This site is dedicated to the memory of Jane Davies.

Our Mum, Jane Davies, was a truly wonderful lady who will be in our thoughts and hearts forever. She was an amazing wife to Colin, mother to Sarah and Joanna and Grannie to Aimee who was born just a few months before she passed away in August 2009, aged 63 years. Not a day goes by in which we don’t think about her. We wish that she was here with us and we miss her so much. Jane was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer in February 2008 but it was too advanced to be beaten with surgery and chemo. Throughout that whole time, Jane always continued to have a positive outlook and was determined never to let cancer get her down. This was typical of her personality. She always had a happy smile for you and the glass was never half empty. We will all remember her fun and happy manner and have many fabulous memories of her to cherish forever.

To honour our Mum’s memory and her brave battle with Ovarian Cancer, we have set up this tribute page to continue to improve awareness of this illness amongst all women, and to raise funds for Ovarian Cancer Action - a great charity dedicated to improving survival rates for women with Ovarian Cancer Throughout Jane’s life she was involved in raising money for charity and one that was especially close to her heart was the Children’ Society.

We know she would be so proud of the people listed below for raising money for other charities on her behalf. She was an inspiration to us and we hope to you too!

• Sarah Davies Valentines Day Fundraising Event for the Eve Appeal £125

• Tamson David (niece) for Macmillan September 2010 £484

• The Romilly Pub, Cardiff Fundraising Day October 2009 for The Eve Appeal £2,500

We would also like to say a huge thank you to those of you who have made a donation in memory of our Mum. We have added some photos of our Mum to the Gallery below, please do take a look. We hope they make you smile.

Ovarian Cancer is known as the silent killer because it is one the hardest cancers to detect, with symptoms that are often similar to those caused by more common, less serious conditions. If you have any of the following symptoms, it is unlikely that they are caused by a serious problem, but it is important that you discuss them with your doctor and ask if they have considered ovarian cancer. In particular, you should ask your GP whether ovarian cancer should be considered if you experience any of these three symptoms on most days:

• Persistent pelvic and stomach pain.

• Increased abdominal size / persistent bloating - not bloating that comes and goes.

• Difficulty eating and feeling full quickly.

Occasionally other symptoms such as urinary symptoms, changes in bowel habit, extreme fatigue or back pain may also be experienced on their own or at the same time as those listed above.

Losing our Mum to ovarian cancer has been devastating and we know the one thing that she would want us to do is make sure that we keep everyone we love and care about aware of ovarian cancer. Diagnosing it in the early stages is vital for beating it so please keep in mind the symptoms mentioned above. It is so very sad to think that if we were aware of the symptoms of this cancer our wonderful Mum, as well as many other women, may still be here with us today. So please, PLEASE do go and tell all the women you know and love about this horrible illness and continue to help us raise awareness and support in finding a cure.
